As I’m sat here reflecting, I’m becoming aware of significant characteristics I’d paid no mind to embrace as the younger me. Growth. There’s beauty in everything around us, things we miss out on, things only a few of us catch onto and sometimes on our personal journeys in search of signs and guidance, things we find a bit of meaning out of.
It’s ironic that on my very first visit to Morocco I was on a personal venture for healing and closure as a few areas of my life needed to be analysed. You may think ‘why go to the other side of the world for that?’ I blame Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist. On a deeper note though, time out is so important to ones exhausted spirit. It’s refreshing, its a distraction from the norm and it’s amazing what revelations can be found in places you least expect!
So on this journey I started coming across a couple of beautiful doors,
colour, studded detail, brass, tiles, wooden architecture showing off Moroccan tradition in style. Arches and curves that stir up a wonder on who designed all this, when and how did they go about it because everything is so raw and done to perfection. The doors seen in the picture above is of Riad Dar Nossa where I stayed during one of my visits, next door is a house belonging to a local. Riads are traditional stylish homes/ hotels in a sense found around the city. The beauty of them is that most of these buildings look like cave houses from the out until you step in and find yourself in a magical Arabic Kingdom.
What does a door symbolise? I kept thinking to myself maybe this was a sign of opportunity, doors being opened for me, until I carried on and came across more doors realising that hey! This isn’t your moment alone kid, there’s a pattern here, a thing about door design, this is probably what every tourist in Marrakech notices and of course proven- captures a visual of which we nowadays come across all over social media.
I never had the “life changing open doors opportunity” offered to me after that trip but I can say, I walked inside mind blowing doors, the closed doors within my thinking and perception towards things definitely changed from there onwards.
