An hour and 20 minutes into our journey to Bristol from Cornwall, still an hour and 20 more minutes till we make it home to Peterborough. I’ve had enough time to reflect on a few things. As an artist running a small business, my brain is always on super charge, thinking of creative ways to promote my products- mainly on social media. We’ve just spent 6 lovey days in Cornwall with my brother, sister in law and nieces and I’ve had a few content collective moments to load up on my Instagram stories. In the midst of planning my next ceramic sales, I found pictures from our visit in 2021, I was a year into ceramics- basic amateur level but there I was sharing my perfectly imperfect mugs and flat plates that revealed the obvious if the bottoms were to be assessed.
I’ve come a long way 3 years later. The saying ‘all good things take time’ has become my religion where art is concerned, and this goes for my music too. I was recently asked by different people ‘what’s happened to the music?’. Like a lioness quick to defend her cubs, I defended my creativity. Nothing wrong has happened, I’m just in a different season at the moment and I’m embracing that. I’m an artist, multi-disciplinarians are on a constant hunt for more knowledge, more inspiration and avenues to make an impact. In all that comes a realisation that everything takes time especially as a maker/ creator and it takes a skill to silence the noise of unsupportive demands.
